Who is SCPOR?
SCPOR Story
SCPOR is a partnership of patients, academic institutions, government agencies and health organizations. Together with our partners, we focus on incorporating learnings from health research to achieve system improvement and support our desired outcomes of enhanced patient and provider care experiences, improved population health, increased value of health services and reduced health inequities. SCPOR’s commitment to include patient voices and experiences along with health system leaders and experts in POR allows us to reach our goals of improving the health of people in Saskatchewan. Learning health systems (LHSs), capacity development, patient and Indigenous community engagement, and data integration and access are integral to SCPOR’s success.
Since its inception in 2017, SCPOR has become a leader in POR, transforming health research culture and practice across Saskatchewan. SCPOR is focused on bridging the gap between research evidence and healthcare practice by providing support and services to promote innovations and generate evidence, with a goal of improving patient health, healthcare and service delivery that respond to patient and community-oriented research needs. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are embedded across SCPOR’s activities; we promote inclusive hiring, training, and research practices, with targeted efforts to engage underrepresented groups and ensure meaningful participation in POR.
SPOR Story
SCPOR is part Canada’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR). We are one of eleven SPOR SUPPORT Units across the country “moving scientific discoveries to the bedside and producing the information that decision-makers and health care providers need to improve care.” (https://cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/51036.html)
